UPDATED — List of Ohio Republicans to call today
Tell them to skip Monday's veto override vote!
Ohio Statehouse update — We continue to hear that Ohio House Speaker Matt Huffman is struggling to find enough votes to override the governor’s budget vetoes.
The clock is running out — the House is scheduled to meet TOMORROW, July 21st, to override three budget vetoes related to property taxes (read more here).
But Governor DeWine and many others have warned that the proposed property tax items would devastate Ohio schools, communities, and first responders. So Republican legislators are split on whether or not to force the items to become law.
Some Republican legislators — like State Rep Jason Stephens (call and thank him!) — have already confirmed that they are voting no or skipping the vote:
We need as many House Republicans as possible to vote NO on the overrides (or skip Monday’s vote altogether!).
UPDATED LIST — TOP REPUBLICANS TO CONTACT — These Republican legislators could be persuaded to vote NO on the veto overrides (or persuaded to miss the vote). Contact them even if they don’t represent you (contact sheet here)! The budget overrides would directly harm ALL Ohio communities:
Michelle Teska — She voted NO on the budget bill. Ask her to vote NO on the veto overrides too! (or skip the vote!)
Ron Ferguson — He voted NO on the budget bill. Ask him to vote NO on the veto overrides too! (or skip the vote!)
Tim Barhorst — He voted NO on the budget bill. Ask him to vote NO on the veto overrides too! (or skip the vote!)
Scott Oelslager — He voted NO on the budget bill. Ask him to vote NO on the veto overrides too! (or skip the vote!)
Levi Dean — He voted NO on the budget bill. Ask him to vote NO on the veto overrides too! (or skip the vote!)
And MAKE SURE to contact your own state rep as well:

Remind these legislators that there’s a reason why their own party’s governor vetoed the items he did.
Remind them that Ohio wants REAL property tax reform — like the property tax circuit breaker discussed here, here, and here — not items thrown into the state budget without considering the consequences.
Tell them not to override ANY of the governor’s vetoes!
DRAFT SCRIPT:
Hello. My name is [NAME], and I am a voter in your district. My zip code is [ZIP CODE].
I’m asking you not to override ANY of the governor’s budget vetoes.
Ohio absolutely needs property tax reform, but our Republican governor vetoed those budget items for a reason.
They’re poorly thought out. They will cause more harm than good.
Instead, you should look at ideas like the property tax “circuit breaker” used by other states.
At least take more time to work with experts and find solutions that won’t hurt our schools or first responders.
And [LEGISLATOR] doesn’t even need to vote against the overrides this Monday. They can simply not show up!
Does [LEGISLATOR] promise to skip Monday’s vote or vote NO on budget veto overrides?
I will be sharing your responses with my networks and urging more Ohioans to call you.
Thank you.
Done!
